HOW TO: Archive and Restore Estates and Trusts

Basic step-by-step guidance to archive and restore Estates & Trusts in 6-in-1.

This document reviews the process for both Archiving and Restoring your Estates and Trusts in 6-in-1.  Archiving is a great way to speed things up in 6-in-1 while having the additional benefit of keeping your active list of Estates & Trusts shorter more manageable.  When an Estate or Trust is archived, it no longer shows up in lists, and all transactions are moved to a special archive file.  This can make a big impact on performance as Estates, Trusts, and Transactions accumulate over time.  Any archived item can be restored at your convenience.

Contents

  1. Navigate to the Archive/Restore screen
  2. Archive Estate(s) or Trust(s)
  3. Restore Estate(s) or Trust(s)
  4. You’re done!

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Launch 6-in-1 as you would ordinarily.  From the opening/license screen, click ‘Advanced’ to open the main “Hub & Spokes” menu.

  2. From within the main “Hub & Spokes” menu, click the ‘List of Estates & Trusts” button:

  3. If this brings you to the ‘Detailed List’, navigate to the ‘Simple List’:

  4. From the ‘Simple List’, click on the ‘Archive…’ button:

2) Archive Estate(s) or Trust(s)

  1. Step 1 on the screen gives you the ability to view ALL, Archived, or Active Estates/Trusts in the system.  Choose “Active” to show all Estates & Trusts that are currently active in the system:

Note that in my example, when I view the ‘Archived’ Estates & Trusts, there are none.  That’s because all of the estates & trusts in my system are still active.

  2. Select the Estates & Trusts you wish to archive.  For demonstration purposes, I have selected the first 4 here:

  3. Next, press the ‘ARCHIVE Selected Estates and Trusts’ button:

  4. Then, press ‘Proceed’, and wait while the system archives the selected records.  This could take some time, depending on the size of your database and the number of records you selected.

  5. Finally, press ‘Close’ when the process has finished.

  6. You’ll be brought back to the main Archive/Restore screen that you saw in sub-step A and B, but “All” will be selected.  Notice that the 4 estates I archived are no longer in the ‘Active’ list, and that the archive status is displayed.

3) Restore Estate(s) or Trust(s)

  1. Similar to how we began the “Arcive” procedure in Step 2, choose “Archived” to show all Estates & Trusts that are currently active in the system.  Note that the 4 Estates/Trusts selected during step 2 now appear in this list:

  2. Select the Estates & Trusts you wish to restore, then press “Restore Selected Estates and Trusts”:

  3. Now press ‘Proceed’, and wait while the system restores the selected records.  This could take some time, depending on the size of your database and the number of records you selected.

  4. Finally, press ‘Close’ when the process has finished.

  5. You’ll be brought back to the main Archive/Restore screen.  Note that the 4 Estates/Trusts have been fully restored:

You’re done!

Click ‘List’ to return to the regular List of Estates & Trusts.
